USS Benham (Lt.Cdr. John Barrett Taylor) was scuttled by USS Gwin after being heavily damaged by Japanese warships off Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands.the man washed overboard during the battle was later rescued by Meade (DD-602), so that USS Benham's entire crew survived her sinking. | |
